Shire President Update - Covid-19

Published on Friday, 5 June 2020 at 8:31:04 AM

Although we appear to be making strong progress in tackling Covid-19, now is not the time to relax.

Our community has successfully worked together to ensure we are all as safe as possible and thankfully, with no local cases of the pandemic, some restrictions are now being eased.

We don’t want to undo all the good work and therefore must remain focussed through this recovery period.

Good hygiene and social distancing are still key to successful outcomes while community interaction is reinstated over various stages.

This ‘new normal’ is likely to be with us for some time yet, but we still need to think about recovery in our community and how that occurs.

Shire Councillors and Senior Staff are now looking at what recovery will look like and what steps will need to be taken to get there.  These will be long-term issues.

Finally, in the words stated on the new art installation located on the corner of Lowood and Langton Roads ‘People working together as a strong community can make things happen’.
