Rubbish collection services and waste disposal sites are operating as normal. The Tip Shop at the O’Neill Road rubbish tip is now resuming normal operating hours of Saturday 11am - 12pm.

How can I protect myself and others?

The Department of Health advises the most effective way to mitigate the risk of contracting Coronavirus is to practice good hygiene.

• Stay home if you are experiencing a fever, cough, sore throat, fatigue or shortness of breath.
• Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Dry your hands.
• Cover your coughs and sneezes with a flexed elbow.
• Avoid touching your face.
• Use and immediately bin tissues.

What are the symptoms of the virus?

Symptoms can range from mild illness to pneumonia. Some people will recover easily, and others may get very sick very quickly. People with coronavirus may experience:

• Fever
• Cough
• Sore throat
• Fatigue
• Shortness of breath
• Flu-like symptoms.

When and how should I seek medical attention?

To seek medical help from a doctor or hospital, call ahead of time to book an appointment. You will be asked to take precautions when you attend for treatment. Follow the instructions you are given.

Your doctor will tell you if you should be tested. They will arrange for the test.

You will only be tested if your doctor decides you meet the criteria:

• You have returned from overseas in the past 14 days and you develop respiratory illness with or without fever.
• You have been in close contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case in the past 14 days and you develop respiratory illness with or without fever.
• You have severe community-acquired pneumonia and there is no clear cause.
• You are a healthcare worker who works directly with patients and you have a respiratory illness and a fever.

What should I do if I have been told to self-isolate?

Refer to the Department of Health’s isolation guidance.
